Wes Bartlett
Guest Artist
Wes is an actor, director, and University teacher who
holds two Master's degrees, most recently a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre from
the prestigious Virginia Commonwealth University. He has taught dozens of
classes and workshops on acting, directing and stage combat and is co-founder of
Child's Play, a theatre company for young audiences.
Theatre veteran, Bartlett has performed in over 65 shows throughout the US and
abroad. Some of his favorites include: TAMING OF THE SHREW at Playhouse in the
Park, PINSTRIPE SUITE at Barksdale Theatre and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM at
Kentucky Wesleyan College.
An accomplished director, Wes has produced a wide range of plays for
many community and professional theatre companies including: Theatre Virginia,
Summer Shorts Festival, Shafer Street Playhouse, Theatre Workshop of Owensboro
and Kentucky Wesleyan College. He is a member of the Society of American Fight
Directors (Certified Actor/Combatant in Unarmed, Rapier/Dagger, Single Sword,
Knife and Quarterstaff). Wes has choreographed four fights for plays at Murray
State University, Owensboro High School and Western Kentucky University where he
is currently an acting and stage combat instructor. Merely Players is
honored to feature Wes as a founding Guest Artist and shares his passion for producing
contemporary theatre for unlikely audiences.
