Melissa “Spiff” Goodall, "Mr. Blieden is typical of a new breed of independent playwright that has been changing this city's small-theatre scene over the last few years." —NY Times. “I have debated with some people as to whether or not this counts as a ‘full play’. I must confess that I wrote this play, in part, to reach people who usually hate plays. These people, and even people who love plays, are often relieved when they can leave the venue after an hour, then go on to the second part of their evening, be that dinner, drinks, or the type of long and involved post-show conversation that PHYRO-GIANTS! usually inspires.” —Blieden Come eavesdrop on a scintillating dinner conversation full of contemporary dialogue and a perverse sense of heterosexual conflict. PHYRO-GIANTS! is a fast, furious and funny study of 30-something angst by Michael Blieden. The play is one scene with no breaks. There are no internal light cues or sound cues and almost no blocking. The set consists of only a table, four chairs, wine and dessert. Running time is roughly 1 hour and 10 minutes. PHYRO-GIANTS! is now the feature film "Melvin Goes to Dinner" directed by Bob Odenkirk and produced by D.J. Paul, Jeff Sussman and Naomi Odenkirk. Produced by special arrangement with
Michael Blieden. |
