Karen has directed and toured THE WAY HOME, a spoken opera about breast cancer survivors. Her one woman show, MISS LIZZIE A. BORDEN INVITES YOU FOR TEA, won awards at KTA and was presented at the Southeastern Theatre Conference in Chattanooga, TN in 2004.
As a founding
member of Muhlenberg Community Theatre, she spent 23 years at the Palace
Theatre in Greenville directing, acting, and mounting some of her original
musicals and children's productions. She has directed for Theatre Workshop of
Owensboro and taught "Arts in the A.M." at the Riverpark Center. Karen also
directs and acts at the Glema Center for the Arts in Madisonville, KY. Playing
"Fagin" in OLIVER was a special treat!
She is especially
proud of her work "behind bars" as the theatre instructor at Green River
Correctional Complex, a medium security prison for almost 1,000 men, located
near Central City. Her students, who call themselves the
Inside Players, present comedies, dramas,
and original productions and also do all the backstage work.
Her husband Larry
is now retired and they share their home with a large fat cat.
"Sleep not, sleep not the artist; do not give
in to slumber. You are a hostage of the ages; you are a captive of time."
